ISC-PIF (Institut des Systèmes Complexes, Paris Ile-de-France) is a multidisciplinary research and training center promoting the development of French, European and international strategic projects on complex adaptive systems, construed as large networks of elements interacting locally and creating macroscopic collective behavior. Its interests cover theoretical questions, such as self-organization, decentralization, emergence, autonomy or evolution, as well as a broad range of disciplinary objects of study, whether molecular, cellular and neural, or socio-economic, technological and environmental networks. Second Annual French Complex Systems Summer School

Lyon and Paris, July 15-August 10, 2008

The aim of the school is to provide in-depth reference courses to a multi-disciplinary audience of researchers and students. The level of lectures will range from introductory to advanced, as attendees are not expected to be familiar with all the fields covered. Lecture topics will address specific objects from various disciplines pertaining to complex systems (physics, biology, sociology, etc.), or interdisciplinary tools and methods (mathematical, computational), or both.
